At 720p, Veo 3.1 Lite costs $0.05 per second with audio ($0.03 without, on Vertex AI) against $0.152 for Seedance 2.0 on the BytePlus ModelArk API — $1.50 vs $4.56 per 30-second try, $4.50 vs $13.68 per usable 30-second video with 2 retries. At 1080p it is Veo Lite $0.08 vs Seedance $0.374 ($7.20 vs $33.66 usable 30s); Seedance 1080p roughly matches Veo 3.1 Standard ($0.40). Seedance’s cheapest verified tier, 480p at $0.07/sec ($6.30 usable 30s), still costs more than Veo Lite 720p. Seedance 2.0 prices are BytePlus’s published per-video examples for a 5-second 16:9 video with text or image input (480p $0.35, 720p $0.76, 1080p $1.87, 4K $3.89), divided by 5. BytePlus bills tokens, and token use scales with output length, so per-second maths is a close estimate — the real charge is the usage.completion_tokens returned by the API. Video input costs more (Seedance 2.0 720p: $0.84–$1.86 per 5s output with 2–15s of input video on the same page). BytePlus charges only for successfully generated videos (no fee for generations that fail moderation). The price list shows no separate audio surcharge for Seedance 2.0, and the tutorial lists generate_audio support — confirm with BytePlus’s pricing calculator if audio matters to your budget.

Veo makes 4, 6 or 8 seconds per generation, so a “5s” Veo clip is really a 4s or 6s generation (Lite 720p: $0.20 or $0.30) and a 10s clip is two generations. Seedance 2.0, 2.0 Fast and 2.0 Mini on the BytePlus API make 4 to 15 seconds per generation, so a 30-second video is two generations. Veo 3.1 makes 4, 6 or 8 seconds, so 30 seconds takes four generations (8 + 8 + 8 + 6). Fewer stitches means fewer joins that can fail and need a retry.
