Quick answer
LTX is cheaper whenever you want sound. LTX-2.3 Fast at 720p on the LTX API is $0.03 per second with audio included — $0.90 per 30-second try and $2.70 per usable 30-second clip (3 attempts), #5= of all 210 rates we rank. Google’s cheapest Veo with audio, Veo 3.1 Lite 720p on Vertex AI, is $0.05 ($4.50 usable, #20=). Veo only catches up with audio off: Veo 3.1 Lite 720p video-only is also $0.03 ($2.70, a tie) and Veo 3.1 Lite 1080p silent ($0.05, $4.50) beats LTX-2.3 Fast 1080p ($5.40). At the top end LTX-2.5 Pro 1080p ($15.30) costs less than half of Veo 3.1 Standard ($36.00), and inside Runway LTX 2.5 Fast 720p ($15.55) is far below Veo 3.1 ($69.12). LTX wins 8 of 11 match-ups, Veo 2, one tie.
Checked Oct 28, 2026: LTX API rates unchanged on LTX API pricing docs; Veo 3.1 / Fast / Lite rates (with audio and video-only) unchanged on Google Cloud Agent Platform (Vertex AI) pricing; Runway app and API Veo and LTX credit rates unchanged. The Gemini API pricing page no longer lists Veo at all (its Veo 3.1 preview models shut down Oct 22, 2026 per Gemini API deprecations), so every Veo price here is Vertex AI.
Basis: usable = 3 attempts (1 + 2 retries) at the list price per second, as in our calculator. Rank = position among the 210 verified usable-30s rates in our verified data (ties share a rank); API # = position among the 138 rates on AI video API pricing. Runway app rows use Standard annual credits ($12/mo for 625 = $0.0192 per credit, runway.com/pricing). Cost only — no quality ranking.

FAQ
Is LTX or Veo cheaper?
LTX, in most cases (checked Oct 28, 2026). LTX-2.3 Fast at 720p on the LTX API is $0.03 per second with audio included, $0.90 per 30-second try and $2.70 per usable 30-second clip with 2 retries. Google's cheapest Veo with audio, Veo 3.1 Lite at 720p on Vertex AI, is $0.05 per second ($4.50 usable). Veo only matches LTX when you turn audio off: Veo 3.1 Lite 720p video-only is also $0.03 ($2.70), and at 1080p silent Veo Lite ($0.05, $4.50) beats LTX-2.3 Fast ($0.06, $5.40). In our 11 match-ups LTX wins 8, Veo 2 and one is a tie.
How much does a 30-second video with sound cost on LTX vs Veo?
With 2 retries (3 attempts), a usable 30-second clip with audio costs $2.70 on LTX-2.3 Fast 720p, $5.40 at 1080p and $15.30 on LTX-2.5 Pro 1080p. On Vertex AI it is $4.50 with Veo 3.1 Lite 720p, $7.20 at 1080p, $9.00 / $10.80 with Veo 3.1 Fast and $36.00 with Veo 3.1 Standard. Veo makes 4, 6 or 8 seconds per generation and LTX 6 to 20 seconds (Fast at 720p/1080p), so a 30-second video is several generations stitched at the same per-second price.
Is Veo cheaper than LTX if I don't need audio?
Sometimes. Google's Vertex AI lists cheaper video-only Veo prices: Veo 3.1 Lite is $0.03 per second at 720p and $0.05 at 1080p, Veo 3.1 Fast $0.08 / $0.10 and Veo 3.1 Standard $0.20. LTX has no silent price; audio is generated by default and turning it off costs the same. So at 720p it is a tie ($0.03, $2.70 usable 30s), at 1080p Veo 3.1 Lite silent is cheaper ($4.50 vs $5.40), and against LTX-2.5 Fast 720p ($0.09) Veo 3.1 Fast 720p silent ($0.08) is cheaper too.
Which is cheaper at 1080p and 4K, LTX or Veo?

Is LTX or Veo cheaper inside Runway?
LTX, by far. In the Runway app Veo 3.1 costs 40 credits per second with audio and 20 without, while LTX 2.5 Fast is 9 at 720p and 13 at 1080p with audio included (Runway Academy credits page, Oct 28, 2026). On Standard annual credits ($12 for 625) a usable 30-second clip is $69.12 with Veo 3.1 with audio, $34.56 without, and $15.55 with LTX 2.5 Fast 720p. The Runway API lists veo3.1 (40 / 20 credits per second) and veo3.1_fast (15 / 10) at $0.01 per credit but no LTX model. Buying direct is cheaper for both.
How do LTX and Veo bill you, and is Veo still on the Gemini API?
The LTX API bills US dollars per second of generated video from a prepaid balance with optional auto top-up ($5 to $2,500 per top-up); text-to-video and image-to-video cost the same and LTX does not publish a minimum purchase or credit expiry. Veo 3.1 is billed per second of output on Google Cloud Vertex AI (Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform), which lists the price per '1 count'. The Gemini API's Veo 3.1 preview models were shut down on October 22, 2026, and as of October 28, 2026 the Gemini API pricing page no longer lists Veo; it points to Gemini Omni Flash instead, so use Vertex AI for Veo.
